DESCRIPTION
Nikwax TX.Direct Wash-In is the market leader for adding durable water repellancy and reviving breathability in your waterproof gear. Easy to use in your washing machine or by hand, non flammable and PFC free.
Easy and quick to apply in a washing machine, its highly Durable Water Repellency (DWR) develops on air drying. The washing machine application ensures that the treatment goes right through the garment, treating seams, tapes and cords, as well as the fabric. Also, as the need for tumble drying is removed, this saves energy and protects more vulnerable, older, garments from heat.
With easy to follow instructions on the bottle, Nikwax TX.Direct Wash-In has been specifically designed and optimised for breathable waterproof garments; it leaves a flexible water repellent treatment on individual fibres allowing moisture vapour to pass through, maintaining breathability.

PROVENANCE AND ETHICS
Nikwax - originally for preserving hiking boots - was first produced as a commercial product in a North London flat. In 1977, at 22 years of age, Nick Brown mixed his first order with a discarded tea urn, a primus stove, a jug and materials bought from a local hardware store. The wax was then poured into tins which he silk screened by hand. Nick sold his products to the outdoor trade, driving a second hand Morris 1000 van and later, he bought an Inter Rail cards to introduce his product into Europe. Next he moved to a workshop in Clerkenwell in London and before he knew it, Nick was selling ‘the product’ to eight countries.
