DESCRIPTION
A round ended version of the classic Opinel foldaway knife. For added safety when whittling, but also perfect for a picnic, to spread butter and make sandwiches.
Opinel use Sandvik 12C27 modified stainless steel for the blade, made anti-corrosive thanks to the addition of chrome meaning it requires no special maintenance. It has a carbon content of at least 0.40% which gives it an excellent cutting edge, perfect for whittling wood if kept sharp.
Beech is the most commonly used wood for the manufacture of Opinel handles. From France, beech is a hard and durable wood characterized by the presence of numerous small dark dashes across its grain.
The No.7 Round Ended Safety Knife features the Virobloc safety ring, invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955 and now cut out of stainless steel. the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade open (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade closed (safety in transport).
