DESCRIPTION
Our Recommendation:
This is a travel-savvy, soft-sided 30-litre backpack that quickly converts to a duffel or a shoulder bag to keep you moving on any mode of transport. Meets the strictest of carry-on requirements so you can travel with confidence. A great choice for an over night travel bag - and if you need something larger, have a look at the full size Black Hole MLC.
Built with recycled materials and a recycled TPU laminate, the Black Hole Mini MLC is designed for shorter trips or aircraft with tighter carry-on requirements. A large main compartment with two interior pockets for organisation, backed up by a dedicated space for tech storage that fits most 16" laptops, with room for documents and cords. Three carrying configurations allow bag to be used as a backpack, a shoulder bag or a duffel, and all straps tuck away when not in use. A padded, stowable hip belt takes weight off the shoulders in backpack mode and doubles as the shoulder strap in briefcase mode.
External lash points and compression straps accommodate even more gear and can be used for other carrying configurations. The bag is also roller case compatible, with a wide webbing loop on the back panel acting as a haul handle or can be slipped over the handle of rolling luggage for easier movement through airports.

PROVENANCE AND ETHICS
Patagonia was founded by Yvon Chouinard in 1973, the company's roots are in clothing for rock and alpine climbing, but they now produce a diverse mix of apparel targeted towards skiers, snowboarders, surfers and climbers. Patagonia are a world leader in creating ethical, sustainable clothing.
Recycled Polyester: Polyester is a naturally water-repellent material that can withstand the elements. Using polyester fibre made from mechanically recycled plastic bottles reduces CO2 emissions, and Patagonia are working toward eliminating all virgin polyester in their products by 2025.
Recycled TPU: Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) is a crucial part of what makes Patagonia's Black Hole® products so durable. This laminate coating creates a material that’s extremely weather-resistant and abrasion-resistant. Now made with recycled TPU - a change that decreases carbon emissions from manufacturing by 91% per. Kg compared to virgin TPU.
Recycled Nylon: Nylon is one of the strongest materials used in clothing and gear. Using recycled nylon, Patagonia decrease their dependence on virgin petroleum as a raw material and reduce discarded fabric.
Made without PFCs / PFAS: For decades, the coatings used in apparel to improve water-repellency have relied on per- or polyfluorinated chemicals, which contain fluorine. This class of forever chemicals accumulates in air, water, food, even our bodies, and they raise serious health concerns. Patagonia re moving away from PFCs, and now 92% of their materials with water-repellent chemistries are made without them - reducing their impact on the health of people and the planet.
Fair Trade: Patagonia now use more than 20 Fair Trade factories that specialise in the production of outdoor clothing, paying a premium for every Patagonia item that is made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory. They actively encourage other brands that do business in those factories to join them in the Fair Trade movement, ensuring living wages within the supply chain.
