DESCRIPTION
An updated version of Patagonia's classic Black Hole MLC bag - a burly, soft-sided 45-litre suitcase with enough room for world travel and convertible backpack straps for comfy load carrying. Made with 100% recycled body fabric, lining and webbing and coated with a 100% recycled TPU laminate. Meeting most carry-on requirements.
Built with recycled materials and a recycled TPU laminate, the size of the pack is based on the maximum carry-on size of most airline carriers, and free of wheels or handles that might get in the way once you're out of the airport. A large main compartment with two interior organisation pockets and one drop-in top pocket for smaller items backed up by a dedicated space for tech storage that fits most 19" laptops, with room for documents and cords.
Three carrying configurations allow bag to be used as a backpack, a shoulder bag or a duffel, and all straps tuck away when not in use; external lash points add the ability to accommodate more gear. Padded, stowable hip belt takes weight off the shoulders in backpack mode and doubles as the shoulder strap in briefcase mode. A wide webbing loop on the back panel acts as a haul handle or can be slipped over the handle of rolling luggage for easier movement through airports.

PROVENANCE AND ETHICS
Patagonia was founded by Yvon Chouinard in 1973, the company's roots are in clothing for rock and alpine climbing, but they now produce a diverse mix of apparel targeted towards skiers, snowboarders, surfers and climbers. Patagonia are a world leader in creating ethical, sustainable clothing.
Recycled Polyester: Polyester is a naturally water-repellent material that can withstand the elements. Using polyester fibre made from mechanically recycled plastic bottles reduces CO2 emissions, and Patagonia are working toward eliminating all virgin polyester in their products by 2025.
Recycled TPU: Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) is a crucial part of what makes Patagonia's Black Hole® products so durable. This laminate coating creates a material that’s extremely weather-resistant and abrasion-resistant. Now made with recycled TPU - a change that decreases carbon emissions from manufacturing by 91% per. Kg compared to virgin TPU.
Recycled Nylon: Nylon is one of the strongest materials used in clothing and gear. Using recycled nylon, Patagonia decrease their dependence on virgin petroleum as a raw material and reduce discarded fabric.
Made without PFCs / PFAS: For decades, the coatings used in apparel to improve water-repellency have relied on per- or polyfluorinated chemicals, which contain fluorine. This class of forever chemicals accumulates in air, water, food, even our bodies, and they raise serious health concerns. Patagonia re moving away from PFCs, and now 92% of their materials with water-repellent chemistries are made without them - reducing their impact on the health of people and the planet.
Fair Trade: Patagonia now use more than 20 Fair Trade factories that specialise in the production of outdoor clothing, paying a premium for every Patagonia item that is made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory. They actively encourage other brands that do business in those factories to join them in the Fair Trade movement, ensuring living wages within the supply chain.
